Secrets

Everyone in the world has secrets.  Things we don't want other people to know; things we try our best to keep concealed, as if exposing them would be as deadly to us as the plague, or swine flu.  Some of our secrets are too sensitive to even hint at; some are silly and embarassing.  I would like to share some of my own secrets with the world today - things that most people don't really know about me.  Sorry, I'm not revealing the big stuff, just the small things that won't really affect anyone but are interesting nonetheless.  And unlike most secrets, these probably aren't gossip-worthy...

1. I sometimes do not want to be a preacher.  I get this feeling like I just don't want to be in the ministry sometimes.  Usually it happens on days when I am supposed to preach in church, or on Wednesday nights when I am facing twenty screaming and unruly demons, I mean...children.

2. My dogs annoy the heck out of me.  They shed hair all over the place, especially on my black suit.  I had court today, and had to spend extra time removing their remnants from my coat before going inside.  They drive me crazy, but I love them.

3. Sometimes I hate my job.  Mostly when I mess up or make a bad decision, or when I have to go to court or make kids cry.  It really stinks when they cry.

4. Sometimes I do not like going to church.  I suppose I just get burnt out after being there all the time.  I know that's my calling and all, but, honestly, sometimes I would rather be anywhere else but there.  Don't tell on me...

5. I do not have it all together.  I think some people think I am a saint and that I have life all figured out.  But that is absolutely not true.  I mess up a lot.  I fail often.  I sin every day.  And I do not have all the answers.  But God loves me anyways, in spite of my screw ups, and that is pretty awesome!
