Reflection

My reflection in the mirror
Reveals the truth about me
But beyond what is so visible
Is the truth you cannot see
The things that I alone know
And choose not to share
The things that I so tightly grasp
And handle with such care
The past mistakes and failures
And choices that I've made
Regrets, remorse and sorrow
From the way that I've behaved
My reflection conveys all of it
But it's seen in my eyes only
And it seems that as I gaze upon it,
The mirror is my enemy.
But grace has entered freely
Redeeming my reflection
So that now I see a different face
As I make this introspection
And now this grace has liberated
The soul that was held captive
The eyes so full of guilt and shame
Have seen all that has happened
In my heart and in my mind
Jesus Christ in his affection
Has removed all of my sins
And redeemed my reflection.
